Saving Energy Costs in UK Retail
Whilst energy costs in the retail sector are responsible for a very small proportion of total business turnover, if companies take steps to reduce these costs, there can be a direct increase in margins experienced.
Sizes of buildings and operating procedures may vary, but businesses in the retail sector can experience a number of energy related issues such as:
- Upgrades and refurbishments of property require a minimal amount of downtime, so contracts are often rolled on despite the changes in usage requirements
- Constant public footfall who often have no concern for energy conservation
- Sites can be open for long periods of time and around the clock
- Demanding and energy intensive equipment operating inside and outside the property
